Time Management
There has been times in your childhood when for once or twice you must have got the suggestion of making your time table and follow it strictly, It doesn`t matter how much play you put in ,But you have to follow it.
And then you make a time table, Follow it on first day , Get nearly 80% right , Wow. That`s great…….But Slowly you again get lethargic and some or other things cover your mind and then do hell with the time table ![]()
But when you get into demanding professional world, You realize that the most demanding thing you encounter is not all the technical knowledge you sought all these years. But the Professional Attitude , Efficiency and Time management. (Well atleast in my case)
I am surely runnig out of time now or then , Or putting a lot more time than it is required for some work. Why?
Problem 1. I was not concentrated enough at times. A mail window open one side , checking my mails again and again, Slashdot at another. Uff..
Solution 1: Never re-check your mails :P, That`s kinda of disease i started getting from some past time.
After Gmail Went IMAP shifted fully to thunderbird. And don`t check mails more than twice a day. It helped a lot.
Problem 2. Tend to do a lot of scrap researech as goes to off-topic after some time.
Solution 2. This used to happen a lot when i was coding something. Simple solution was to stick to my basics and don`t try some or other fancy stuff one and other time, Believe me lot of time you just a need a for or while loop at right place
Couple of more:
1. If you are in a product company, often you get into this weird habit of talking endlessly about technologies and some new cool stuff coming out.
Actually, sometimes it reduces the strain of heavy thiking/coding.
However, the discussion very soon digresses to a number of other topics.
Need to just focus. If someone talks, give a smile and back to screen.
2. If you are sitting late night (as always :-)), then perhaps online activity can be reduced a bit; like checking news tools, trends, analysis, blogs etc.
However, on this part I am still struggling.
