Why people don`t raise voices ? Now i know why :)

Published by Gaurav Mishra at 8:44 am under life

I was at Nizzamudin station this morning to say good bye to one of my wonderful friend Saumya to pune. After returning from there i decided to take a short route going round via nizammudin crossing and slums near nizammudin, On reaching the crossing i found it closed so decided to wait for gates to open.

After 5 minutes i realized that no bikers are stopping and were leaning and taking there bike from crossing gates, I decided to wait and count the number of bikes that break rules of not waiting at crossings. In next 20 minutes 78 bikes have passed by (No one stopped and asked the reason of closed gates).

After 25 minutes i was bored and tired seeing all robots just walking, So i decided to go and ask the person handling the gate. The man just frowned at my question and said this is the way it is and didn`t even tried entertainng me (I never know if even he would have heard about customer service , lolz).

I came back and stood near my bike for 2 minutes and then my evil mind decided to take another risk, This railway department stops normal routine of people, How about trying other way round, Let me stop trains that are crossing :D

I took my bike and placed bang in the middle of the track and stood far from my bike and waited for another train to come , with my luck it came in another 2 minutes. I smiled and start remembering my ADM uncle number :)

The train horned and stopped cursing the person, I found the man in charge of gates rushing and putting my bike off track (smashing my side lights) . I arrived at scene and took my bike claiming i have put it there, Suddenly the man is full of energy , the guard is full of energy abusing me and telling me about “kanooni karwahi” :P, I gladly gave them my bike number , my name and told them of two politicians name who happen to be my friends from the day of Y4E , Which made the guy slow . I asked him to lodge complaign , I wish he do it . Because if he didn`t i would be very very disappointed.

Do these guys really care for law ? I saw law enforcement when you disturb wrong doing of government, or when cops want to hurt people, I haven`t saw the world much , But more i am exploring , More i am dissapointed.

Your comments are invited , What would you have done if this would have happened with you ? , Will the world will go this way for ever ? . Sigh.

Back to work, Writing codes is far far better thing ,

Atleast they have a logic !

Update: Here is one story that is coming in my mind, A must read http://karatetraining.org/weblog/?p=867

people are just too busy with their own stuff.. they don’t even bother with what goes on around them.. until it affects them somehow.. hmmm.. they don’t raise their voice ‘cos they don’t give a damn..

@pankaj Well it didn`t facilitated anything. But it was fun ;)

@yadu In this case a lot of people were experiencing problems , but didn`t said anything. Even if the people face some problems they just do whatever the world is doing.

Man “yadu” is right no one thinks about it and ever don’t dare to bother about it as he knows it sucks time and have no private profit. This is all every one thinks about.
Just want to ask you “Are you free of time these days?” Coz realsise the same situatiom but you to attend a meeting with a client and you are passing with the same “gate” then what will you do?
Stop and do as you have done now or to attend the meeting?

Anyway it feels so nice when we get know their are still such guys who thinks about others without any profit.

@Honey, Shh, some things need to be private , Everything is not open source :P

It`s not about having time or no time, obivously i wouldn`t have done this if i was in hurry, And there was also no point in carrying out this experimentation. This didn`t made any changes.

If i would have been getting late for meeting, I would have asked the guy (Rather non-politely) who handles the gate to open it after 5 minutes of delay :)

I stopped yesterday while going to meeting to manage one Jam situation , Put my 5 minutes.

It`s not about time honey, People have time. It`s about realisation

i m really impressed… both by the act and by the way you have written.

i too agree that writing code is much better… it has logic lolz :-)

Well I would first like to salute you for your courage and confidence to raise your voice against this injustice and secondly, thinking into the psychology of a common man is quite difficult , everyone likes things to go easy as their are many other difficult or troubling events going around them ,so they let these sort of events occur even though they are not ethical . As far as i’m concerned i would have just told the gate keeper “not to close the gate without reasons…etc etc…” and with this little bit of moral advice , i would have rushed to my work … :)

@tuxdna Thanks, Remember the bravery act was being backed up on my ADM uncle , I knew i wouldn`t be caught easily :P

@vivek Thanks a lot dude, Your act would have been great and in real all this what is needed, People just need to feel whatever is happening around them

    Hmm….
I think back and realize that I’m no better, or maybe am even worse.
Many of these people would never in their life realize what they’re missing, or how their life could be made much more meaningful. They are unfortunate. But what about us, who have this kind of momentary lapses of “worldly sense” and go and do obscure things like this. Or even those of us who really do respect acts of honest rashness as the one above…. We who realize that something is wrong with this world! Aren’t we more to blame that we choose to sit back most of the time and make the most of life, not get our hands dirty in “unnecessary” affairs?
I just stumbled upon your site looking for Hindi support for Ubuntu and couldn’t help but put this here.
I pray that we be given the spirit to really make a difference, for so many people are born and die every day, one more obscure drop is not what one wishes to be. If we could help even a few drops find meaning in being in this pond, including ourselves, it would be something, wouldn’t it?

    hmmmm….really great work…as all are appreciating…
I just want to know one thing that what was the reaction of other people…..I mean they were supporting you or just they were speechless audience…!!!!
you know this will give the answer of question that how much people are concerned with these type of public issues….!!

The only resaon I can think of is that we all have accepetd this as our way of life. I would rather disagree on point that people are only concerned abt themselves, instead they dont give a damn for themselves too. If they would be concerned they would have raised their voices by now. We (atleast most of us) has accepted that getting late for no reasons at railway crossing, getting late at road just coz others are not following traffic rules etc. are part of our life and we have to live with it. And top of it we have devised our special ways to live with these things. We’ll trespass the crossing gates and think why the hell I should be concerned about it.

“Why people don’t raise voices?” coz they are more comfortable in blaming the system rather than understanding that they are part of it and they are the one who need to rectify it.

    :)

@praths Very inspirational thoughts . I have something to add into it, Once a person decide and gets into it, The second phase of pulling the leg starts people will start coming to you and telling you how wrong and worthless thing you are doing with your life and it`s so damn dangerous.

I used to get very inspired and excited after listening to patriotic songs on tv few years ago. Not any more, I have absorbed all messages and thoughts that go with these songs long ago and i now live with it.

May be i can make a change

@dhiraj you know the answer , They were just standing there and on the top of it either with expression of anger (towards me) or a smile on their face :D

Did this really serve the purpose???
    Act of bravery indeed!!!!!
But doing this thing would land anybody in trouble.
Its good that young ones like you and me thing of
changing our system but by doing this act you are disrupting
another system(railways here). All means have to co-exist in this
system and we should look for finding a solution where road and
rail both run smoothly…..i am nt just pointing upon road-rail,its
abt finding a win-win situation for all.
